The photograph hangs inside itself: each copy is reduced and
turned, so the picture recedes without ever reaching bottom. Escher bent the same
recursion into Prentententoonstelling (1956), leaving a blank spot where
the mathematics overwhelmed the hand. Here the blank is filled — the spiral
is computed live, behind glass, for as long as you care to watch.
