Roll the tilted strip back into a picture. Now a trip around the centre lands one copy deeper. A stack of pictures becomes one continuous spiral.
An imaginary gallery. One picture. Infinitely many visits.
That’s the whole trick.

Another way to see it.
Repeating the picture gives us the Droste effect. Unrolling it turns the nested copies into a repeating strip. Tilt that strip just enough to connect one level to the next, then roll it back up. The resulting spiral is a tententoon.
The angle isn’t a lucky guess. It comes from how much each copy shrinks. Here, it’s a few degrees.
